Sensation play
This weekend just past I felt a flogger for the first time. It was at the party. As floggers go, it was kind of hard to miss -- a man was wearing it on his belt, and in addition to the LEDs glowing at the end of each of its strands, it had a lit shaft covered in little blue smiley faces. Cute, yes? After eying it at intervals all night, I asked the owner if the little lights at the ends made it hurt more. "Not as much as you would think," he replied, "but it's a pretty mean flogger." Hoping I wasn't being gauche or breaking some sort of flogger protocol, I held out my bare forearm and asked if I could see what it felt like. He readily obliged, adding, "Tell me how it feels -- this is the first time I've used it," and flicked it my way. It felt soft at first impact, then my brain registered it as hard, and then, almost a full minute later, my arm began to blush and sting. I laughed and showed him. "Talk about a delayed reaction," he said, and I agreed. "You're a giggler," he said. "You'll be laughing when you have your first real flogging." Oh jesus, I hope not, I replied. What an embarrassing state of affairs, to be exposed as a giggler. Then I asked him if he would do my other arm, just for symmetry. He was happy to. I laughed.
